Great British Delights at The Kingham Plough
The Kingham Plough is a pub with rooms in the heart of Chipping Norton, set against the gorgeous backdrop of
the Cotsworlds, the venue opened in 2007 and is the brainchild of Emily Watkins and Miles Lampson.
Winner of numerous awards, the pub has set a standard in British fine dining adding a new dimension of fine
dining to the traditional pub feel. Designed with the family in mind, Emily and Miles have made the pub family
and dog friendly, guests can expect a warm and cosy ambience with a homely vibe. The walls of the pub are
adorned with local artwork and this complements the brick walls and rustic wooden tables and chairs in the main
dining room.
The seasonal menu has been curated by Emily herself, using the finest produce and with an experimental take on
modern British cuisine. Emily has worked for Heston Blumenthal in the past and more recently won the Great
British Menu with her famed fish dish back in 2014.
Foodwise, one can expect the likes of pressed pigeon terrine and a twice baked goats cheese soufflé to start and
they serve local cereal bread with every meal.
For mains, you're spoilt for choice and it's not unusual for people to return more than once during their stay in the
area to sample some of the delights on offer. I'd recommend the packington farm duck, it's perfectly cooked,
succulent and melts in the mouth. Other highlights include the hanger steak and the rabbit wellington.
Alongside the excellent food, The Kingham Plough also boasts six plush rooms on-site, each is individually
decorated and luxe touches include the sumptuous Egyptian cotton bedding and lavish Penhaligons toiletries.
The Kingham Plough opens daily for lunch, 12pm-2pm Monday to Friday, 12-2.30pm on Saturdays and 12-3pm
on Sundays. Dinner is served 6.30pm-9pm Monday to Saturday.
